COOLTURE COOLING VEST TRIALS

UNITED STATES COAST GUARD, AIR STATION SAVANNAH, GEORGIA

In August of 2015, Lieutenant Commander James Fenno submitted the results of their cooling-vest trial comparing eleven (11) cooling vests from a variety of manufacturers, including the Coolture Signature Cooling Vest.

Temperatures in the hangar reached upwards of 130F. The trials were conducted within the following divisions:

  • Marine Safety Unit, Savannah GA
  • Coast Guard Cutter Tarpon, Savannah GA
  • Helicopter unit HITRON, Jacksonville FL
  • Maintenance for U.S. Coast Guard helicopter assets, GA and SC

 RESULTS OF TRIAL:

“I am very pleased to tell you that your Coolture cooling vest was the hands down top pick at our unit, the Marine Safety Unit, as well as Cutter Tarpon.”

“The crews were very complimentary about the elastic fabric and how it held the coolingpacks to their torso. Your vest has a low profile without tabs of fabric hanging off, which for our crews could represent a safety hazard… We also liked the almost articulated way in which your cooling packs molded against the body. Several of the cooling packs we looked at froze solid and did not adapt to the body or to movement of the torso very well.

“Your vest fit underneath the personal flotation devices required by the boat crews and was also favored over another vendor's model for use under body armor for the boarding crews.”

"Your vest is an excellent product, is very well made, made in the USA, and does a great job of cooling. It held up well to the rigors of multiple shifts wearing them for weeks. Our needs and specifications are certainly more stringent than most folks who purchase cooling vests and I am pleased we found one that was so well endorsed and supported by the crew's comments.”

“In the end, we favored your vest by a fairly large margin.”
